The Alice Project - Alice in permanent flux and simultaneity

"An original creation directed by Marianne Weems, The Alice Project was adapted from Alice Through the Looking Glass by a team of graduate playwrights at Carnegie Mellon University. The four month tech process allowed the designers to experiment and test ideas in the performance space with every element of design present.

My challenge was to create a powerful media server system that could not only deliver content during performances, but would also be flexible enough to allow the designers to play and create. The system was created with 6 Mac Pro towers networked together and running MAX/MSP, 3 analog video switchers, a 20x20 matrix switcher, 9 cameras placed throughout the set, 6 projectors, and an iPad. The end result allowed design changes to be implemented quickly and effectively, making experimentation and integration between the various design departments possible.

Director: Marianne Weems"
